Recognition and Awards

 

  • 1987: HongKong Foundation Award for outstanding and innovative rehabilitative services. 
  • 1991: National Award for rendering rehabilitative services to persons with disability. 
  • 1998:  United Nations ESCAP Award for pioneering achievement.
  • 2001: Received ‘A’ Grade performance rating from Rehabilitation Council of India for ensuring sustainable work to improve the quality of life of persons with locomotor disabilities. 
  • Shri Avadhoota Datta Peetham Award for Social Service.
  • 2005: National Award for creating barrier-free environment for persons with disability.
  • 2010: Doctor of Laws (Honoris Causa) Award by Roehampton University to Dr. Uma Tuli, our Founder and Managing Secretary.
  • 2011: Lakshmipat Singhania - IIM Lucknow National Leadership Award 2010 conferred upon Dr. Uma Tuli.




  • 2011: National Women Excellence Award to Dr. Uma Tuli.
  • 2011: Padma Shri to Dr. SP Mandal, our President.
  • 2011: Amar Jyoti featured in ‘Satyamev Jayate’, Aamir Khan met and interacted with students.
  • 2012: Mrs. Aruna Dalmia, our Vice President received Maharana National Award for social service.
  • 2012: Padma Shri to the Founder and Managing Secretary, Dr. Uma Tuli for Social Work.
  • 2012: Rehabilitation International also awarded the Presidential Plaque for Exemplary Services in October, 2012 to Dr.Uma Tuli.
  • 2013 : Kelvinator Gr8!Women Awards 2013 for Education to Dr. Uma Tuli.
  • 2013: Former President of India, late Shri Abdul Kalam visited Amar Jyoti and interacted with the students
  • 2014: Amar Jyoti received the ‘MuktaVidya National Award’ instituted by the National Institute of Open Schooling for being the ‘Best Accredited SAIED Centre’
  • 2014: Amar Jyoti class VII student, Nishtha Jain, awarded the ‘Outstanding Achiever of the Year Award’ for performing arts from the President of India, Shri Pranab Mukerjee
  • 2014: Manish and Riya, from Amar Jyoti won gold and silver medals at Asia Pacific Games held in Australia.
  • 2015: Pooja Raju, class V, created history by winning all three medals at the same Summer Games at Special Olympics, Los Angeles, USA
  • 2015: A group of 4 Amar Jyoti students (including 1 ex –student) with diverse disabilities selected to represent India at the  UN – ESCAP ‘Global IT Challenge for Youth with Disabilities’ to be held in Jakarta,  Indonesia in October, 2015. Shubham Kumar and Shivani Bansal won the ‘Super Challenger’ Awards.

 



Other Special Achievements and Initiatives

  • Conducting Two Lifeline Express camps in remote areas of Madhya Pradesh
  • Initiating participation of children with disability in Republic Day Parade in 1995.
  • Organising the first integrated sports and cultural activities at National and International level.
  • Promoting disabled friendly transportation. 
  • Introducing Abilympics in India and hosting the 6th International Abilympics in 2003. 
  • Amar Jyoti students presented a cultural extravaganza for the House of Commons, United Kingdom.
  • Paintings of Amar Jyoti students exhibited at Geneva, Switzerland
